Power of Listening and Finding Answers

Tuesday, November 17, 2015 - 08:30

Thought for the Day:

Wisdom doesn’t come easily or without a cost; in fact wisdom often costs up dearly. Your wisdom will run about as deep as pain has cut you. There are very few shortcuts, if any. But if you are looking for best shortcut available here it is --- Listening.

By: Bryant Mcgill

So many of us have our own opinions and hear others strong opinions on issues going on in the world right now. I think it’s very healthy to have a certain amount of fear but I believe it should be practiced with our eyes and ears open. Try not to build up a wall because of fear, because fear beseeches hate.

I know most of us don’t desire to build a wall. So I suggest to you, redirect your fear into being productive in trying to get answers from those who can provide them.

Simple Rules to Live by

Tuesday, November 17, 2015 - 07:00

Thought for the Day:

When you put your mind to something you make it possible, hold on to that possibility no matter how far it may seem.

  1. Try to make peace with the past so you can truly live in the present
  2. What others think of you doesn’t matter at all.
  3. TIME heals a lot, be sure to give yourself plenty.
  4. You are the only person in charge of your happiness, do something.
  5. Comparing your life to others will only hurt you, your journey is unique; embrace it.
  6. It’s ok to not know all of the answers right now, stop over-thinking things you have no control over
  7. Most Importantly: SMILE. You aren’’t responsible for the worlds problems.

I know life isn’t always easy and it’s hard to see the good when you appear to be so far away from it but sometimes it’s just a matter of changing your mindset. Sometimes it’s just realizing that little ole you can make a difference in this world if you so choose to.

Always Doing Your Best is Best

Monday, November 16, 2015 - 06:00

Thought for the Day:

I implore you to be the example regardless of your surroundings.

Polic Officer Comforting ChildDoing the right thing is too often not done because we have too often seen others get away with doing the wrong thing. Someone has to start setting the example or there will be too few to look up to.

Not long ago I was told by an 11 year old girl that I was the only grown up she could think of that did not use profanity. Small decisions like this all add up to be big things in others eyes. Our decisions make others question their morals instead of us having to question our own.

Today is the Day to be Beautiful

Sunday, November 15, 2015 - 07:00

Thought for the Day:

Look in the mirror and see the beauty of your personality shining through. If you can’t see it, go volunteer at a retirement home.

We tend to be our own worst critic based on our looks. It’s tough when all of the magazines we see portray what appears to be perfection. I know it’s hard to get in your head but YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL just as you are. Every freckle, pimple, scar is all a part of who you are right now so try to embrace those things and do something to make yourself feel more beautiful.

I recommend:

Massaging your own feet.
Painting your nails.
Taking a candlelit bubble bath.
Rubbing lotion on your arms and legs.

Pamper yourself and stop listening to others definitions of beautiful. Define your own definition. <3

Secret Santa Police Officers (SSPO)

Saturday, November 14, 2015 - 07:00

Thought for the Day:

Aspire to inspire those around you by just being you.

What an amazing story about the humbleness of a generous individual. It’s amazing how one person can change so many lives and give a different perspective to those involved and those of us watching. Kudos to Kansas City Missouri for agreeing to get involved and recording this footage. I hope it brings tears of joy to your eyes and inspires you too.

Humility is the Key Here

Friday, November 13, 2015 - 07:00

Thought for the Day:

You can have all the riches in the world; it’s a matter of what you do with it.

Many would argue their points on why we should be impressed by money or degrees. The message here is to live your life as an example by being humble about the things you have and I think it also applies to the things you do. Those who remain humble rest assure that there are others who put forth the same effort in the world. « That’s a great feeling!

You've Survived This Long

Thursday, November 12, 2015 - 07:00

Thought for the Day:

Dwelling on something is only going to make your life seem like it’s in chaos all of the time. Dwell in moderation my friends.

This is a decent article that goes over a study about people who tend to worry a lot. With all things said and done I think worrying should always have moderation. Consider the bad possibilities but try your best not to dwell on them too much.

Happy Veterans Day, Welcome Home

Wednesday, November 11, 2015 - 07:00

Thought for the Day:

While you eat BBQ in the back yard, turn on your favorite television show or tuck your kids in at night...there is a United States soldier making sure you’re safe.

Our service men and women are amazing, take the opportunity to thank someone for their service. I know every story may not be as happy or exciting as the ones here, I just hope that all of our soldiers realize we appreciate them the way this video portrays.

Times Get REALLY Tough, Keep Going

Tuesday, November 10, 2015 - 07:00

Thought for the Day:

When your life is tested you hope the people you love the most will come through. It's these tough moments that test the relationships around you and show the true colors of what people are made of.

We all have to make hard choices and get through tough times. This is just one example that was put on a professional video camera. Stay strong for your family and friends.

Imagine a World with No Stereotypes

Monday, November 9, 2015 - 07:30

Thought for the Day:

When you walk through the grocery store next time, smile at people walking down the isles. You may get some funny looks but...think about that.

This video has gone viral and we’re happy to help. A point he did not make is that so many people judge others based on the world they live in (looking from inside of a box). People are people: there are bad, there are good, there are those in the middle. We have all heard racism from both sides and anger tends to fuel a fire faster than the good acts we see. Start expecting the best and it will open the opportunity for others to be their best. Nobody should feel like they are ‘out of place’ based on their skin, love heals all wounds.
