Me and the World I Live In

Friday, November 27, 2015 - 07:00

Thought for the Day:

Sometimes it takes helping someone else to realize that we need to help ourselves.

In a world where naive, uneducated, beautiful women are glorified it raises concern for those who are enlightened and intelligent. We would like to feel as though there is some unity on serious issues that get mass media attention, but at the end of the day I think many would agree; we would just settle for people to seek the facts before posting the first thing that comes to mind while browsing the news.

Syrian & Japanese Similar Interests

Thursday, November 26, 2015 - 07:00

Thought for the Day:

“Perfer et obdura, dolor hic tibi proderit olim. (Be patient and tough; someday this pain will be useful to you.)”

Ovid

Stand up and speak for what you think is right and do so while being informed. In 1941 a lot of Japanese Americans lives changed. These Americans loaded busses to be taken to camps. Now, in the year 2015 the Japanese Americans are standing up for Syrians as to not have a repeat of the things they went through.

It’s not the majority of the human race that the people worry about, it’s the minority of those who have intentions of doing harm. Let us remember the mistakes we made in the past and make sure we don’t repeat them.

CBS Undercover Boss Work Ethics

Wednesday, November 25, 2015 - 07:00

Thought for the Day:

Our work defines who we are around others. What we do behind closed doors defines who we are.

Angel, from Modell’s Sporting Goods, speaks on some very great leadership skills in the work place. Do these ethics only apply to leaders? I think we can all strive to take some lessons from Angel in how to present ourselves in the work place.

Tiny House Movement to Aid the Homeless

Tuesday, November 24, 2015 - 07:00

Thought for the Day:

Open the home of your heart to find what your passion is.

When the city’s zoning ordinances got in the way of putting tents up this church finds a way to house homeless. The home even provides a physical address for residence to put on job applications. Many of us would love to see a lot more of these go up in our communities.

Oh Deer It's Monday

Monday, November 23, 2015 - 07:00

Thought for the Day:

If we just give things a chance, what we fear may not be so scary any more.

This little dog is barking (likely because it is afraid), but as the deer gets closer they both grow more curious. Nature is a funny thing. There are many predators in the world, animals that have a natural instinct to kill their prey, but most mammals are gentle creatures whose instinct is the fear to protect themselves. A lesson can be taken from this unexpected encounter of these two animals.

The Secret to this World we Live in

Sunday, November 22, 2015 - 07:00

Thought for the Day:

Inspire yourself, only then can you inspire those around you.

People sometimes wonder, what is the purpose to life. Why in the world am I here and what difference can I make? We should all stand for something. The video below explains part of Jim Carrey’s secret to life, something we can all use to help set goals for ourselves.

The best time to start is now. Work to inspire those around you by showing that you can be happy being you.

Good and Bad Days

Saturday, November 21, 2015 - 07:00

Thought for the Day:

Life is amazing. And then it’s awful. And then it’s amazing again. And in between the amazing and the awful it’s ordinary and mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That’s just living heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it’s breathtakingly beautiful.

The world is made up of all kinds of ups and downs. We all lead our different lives that makes the world around us what it is. Watch some moments in other people’s lives:

Don’t forget to count your blessings as well as realize your own self-worth.

Dig Deep to Find Who Someone Is (Including Yourself)

Friday, November 20, 2015 - 07:00

Thought for the Day:

Life is too short to make yourself even more flawed due to a broken heart.

What is the point in being in such a hurry when you plan to have the rest of your lives to figure it out. Don’t be too quick to give others the benefit of the doubt, especially in dating.

Usually we rush because of our own insecurities in our imperfections. We feel others can’t truly love us for who we are, we are “flawed” and “dirty”. The problem with that is...the imperfections and flaws and dirtiness is what built you into being so unique. The solution is learning to love yourself as you are...and if you don’t; then keep working on yourself until you do.

Love and it's Effects on Cancer

Thursday, November 19, 2015 - 07:00

Thought for the Day:

Sometimes you just have to reach out to find what you need; don’t bottle it all up inside too much.

In this video by ABC News these two are “dating” but it’s not that word that holds meaning here; it’s what this young girl is doing in this young boys life. A sweet story about a person who learned compassion at a young age and is being given the opportunity to practice it with a cancer patient.

Doing What you're Supposed to do VS What you Need to do

Wednesday, November 18, 2015 - 07:00

Thought for the Day:

When life takes an unexpected turn that keeps you from being normal; take it in stride, it usually entails a life lessons you can teach.

She wasn’t able to graduate due to things at home that took presentence over High School. A person her age should probably never be put in a situation like this but I can only image how strong it made her in the long run. This story is so inspirational because someone stopped to hear this woman’s story and bring joy to her life at the late age of 97. Don’t forget to not forget what others gave up for you.
